Dunstan High School is a decile 9, co-educational school with around 500 students. It is an excellent school for students who enjoy the outdoors and want a unique New Zealand experience. The school offers both boarding and homestay and is situated in the safe and friendly town of Alexandra, only 1.5 hours drive from Queenstown International Airport.

We are proud of our school and have a strong academic programme in place, offering a full range of academic subjects from Year 9 to Year 13.

We also provide students with an excellent opportunity to excel in other areas including drama, music, art and outdoor education. Close to lakes, rivers and mountains we consider ourselves very lucky to be located in the scenic Southern Lakes Region of the South Island; surrounded by an amazing and beautiful natural environment.

Dunstan High School offers an award winning Outdoor Education Programme which includes skiing/ snowboarding, rock-climbing, challenge ropes course, hiking, search and rescue and kayaking. Our programmes specialise in personal and social development, teamwork, leadership and relating to others. These are all very desirable employment skills. Adventure becomes the medium for students to explore their strengths and realise what they are capable of. This is operated from our Outdoor Education Centre at the edge of Mt Aspiring National Park, Wanaka as well as our local area around Alexandra.

Each year 15 - 20 International Students from a range of different countries choose to study at Dunstan High School. We believe that by sharing our language and culture we gain a wider world-view and greater tolerance and understanding of different points of view.
