Queen’s High School

About The School

This state school for young women is situated in one of New Zealand’s most historical cities and has a long tradition of academic excellence and high achievement.

Established in 1955, Queen’s High School offers a broadly balanced curriculum with a rich cultural and sporting life, in a disciplined and caring environment. Situated in St Clair, Dunedin, the school is close to a rugged shoreline and beach where surfing and other water sports are a popular pastime.

Facilities at Queen's High School include a gymnasium and dance studio, a well-equipped and resourced library, several computer suites with internet and email facilities, specialist chemistry, physics, biology and general science laboratories, specialist music, drama and art suites, and a multi-purpose technology block.

Musical opportunities are extensive at the school, in keeping with its strength in performing and visual arts. There is a school orchestra, jazz band and choir, and the school combines with a nearby boys’ school to form a concert band.

Queen's High School hosts up to 35 international students each year from throughout the world.
